FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ALBANY NY
1040 PM EST FRI MAR 16 1990

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 500 AM EST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING
COUNTIES

   IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK
      ST. LAWRENCE AND NORTHWEST FRANKLIN

AT 1030 PM LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED FLOODING ON
THE ST. REGIS RIVER.  AN ICE JAM NEAR BRASHER FALLS HAS
BACKED UP WATER.  THE WATER LEVEL WAS 25 FEET ABOVE NORMAL AND THE
LOCAL SEWAGE PLANT IS 2 1/2 UNDER WATER.  CONGRESS STREET IN
BRASHER FALLS WAS IMPASSABLE.  SEVERAL HOMES WERE BEING EVACUATED
AND NUMEROUS NIAGARA MOHAWK POLES HAVE BEEN KNOCKED DOWN BY THE
SWIFT CURRENT.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE OVER ROADS COVERED BY FLOOD WATERS.
