THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LUBBOCK HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 715 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY...
IN NORTHWEST TEXAS
...COTTLE
AT 415 AM CDT...RADAR INDICATED A LARGE AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS WITH
HEAVY RAINFALL CROSSING AND MOVING INTO COTTLE COUNTY. SEVERAL STORMS
HAVE ALREADY MOVED ACROSS THE AREA DURING THE PAST SEVERAL HOURS...AND
THE GROUND IS SATURATED. THE ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WITH THESE STORMS
WILL INDUCE FLASH FLOODING.
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LUBBOCK TX 1132 PM CDT SAT JUN 10 1989 ...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM CDT FOR HALE... FLOYD...MOTLEY...AND COTTLE COUNTIES... AT 1130 PM CDT THERE WERE NO SHOWERS OR THUNDERSTORMS ON THE SOUTH PLAINS. RADAR WAS INDICATING AN AREA OF INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE SOUTHEAST PORTION OF THE PANHANDLE. A FEW OF THESE WERE SEVERE AND CONTAINED VERY HEAVY RAIN. THESE STORMS WERE MOVING TO THE SOUTHEAST AT 20 MPH AND MAY THREATEN THE NORTHEAST PORTION OF THE SOUTH PLAINS WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. KEEP LISTENING FOR LATER STATEMENTS OR POSSIBLE WARNINGS.
