JASPER COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS WATER HAS CLOSED MUCH OF HIGHWAY 96 FROM
KIRBYVILLE SOUTH THROUGH BUNA TO EVADALE.
 
HEAVY RAINS HAVE DUMPED 4 TO 6 INCHES OF RAIN ACROSS SOUTHERN JASPER
AND SOUTHERN NEWTON COUNTIES SINCE MIDNIGHT.
 
DO NOT TRAVEL HIGHWAY 96.  DO NOT TRAVEL...AT ALL...UNLESS IT IS ABSOLUTNECESSARY.
 
MANY ROADS ARE UNDER WATER ACROSS THE SOUTHERN SECTIONS OF JASPER AND
NEWTON COUNTIES.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
