SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NORTH PLATTE NE 120 PM CDT WED JUN 28 1989 ...THE TORNADO WARNING FOR EAST CUSTER COUNTY HAD EXPIRED AS OF 115 PM CDT... ...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR MOST OF CENTRAL AND SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA UNTIL 6 PM CDT... STRONG THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUED TO ROLL ACROSS CENTRAL NEBRASKA THIS AFTERNOON. AT 120 PM CDT STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WERE IN EAST CENTRAL CUSTER COUNTY OF CENTRAL NEBRASKA. SOME OF THE STRONGER STORMS WERE 5 MILES SOUTHEAST OF BROKEN BOW NEBRASKA EXTENDING EAST TO THE COUNTY LINE. AT 1227 PM CDT A NEBRASKA STATE TROOPER CALLED IN A POSSIBLE TORNADO EAST OF SARGENT NEBRASKA. NO DAMAGE FROM THIS POSSIBLE TORNADO HAD BEEN REPORTED TO NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AS OF THIS TIME. THE STORM THAT PRODUCED THIS POSSIBLE TORNADO HAD MOVED OUT OF CUSTER COUNTY AS OF 120 PM CDT. AT 1242 PM CDT SARGENT NEBRASKA DID REPORT 40 TO 50 MILE AN HOUR WIND A3LONG WITH SMALL HAIL AND HAEVY RAIN. SMALL TREE LIMBS WERE REPORTED DOWN. IF YOU LIVE IN CENTRAL AND SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA...KEEP ALERT TO WEATHER CONDITIONS AND BE PREPARED TO MOVE TO SHELTER IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES. MEYER
