SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT AND RADAR SUMMARY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MINNEAPOLIS/ST PAUL MN 1050 PM CDT FRI JUL 10 1987 ....INTENSE THUNDERSTORM OVER CENTRAL MINNESOTA.... AT 1031 PM CDT...AN ISOLATED INTENSE THUNDERSTORM WAS LOCATED 40 MILES NORTHEAST OF ALEXANDRIA NEAR LONG PRAIRIE IN CENTRAL MINNESOTA. VERY HEAVY RAINS...STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND HAIL CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THE STORM AS IT MOVES NORTHEAST AT 35 MILES AN HOUR. THE STORM SHOULD MOVE THROUGH MOFLEY AND BE LOCATED SOUTH OF PEQUOT LAKE BY 1130 PM CDT. OTHER STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED OVER WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA FROM SOUTHEAST OF DETROIT LAKES TO BRECKENRIDGE NEAR THE MINNESOTA/NORTH DAKOTA BORDER. THESE STORMS WERE ALSO MOVING NORTHEAST AT 35 MILES AN HOUR.

TORNADO WARNING WAS IN EFFECT FOR YELLOW MEDICINE COUNTY FROM 425 PM CDT TO 500 PM CDT MENTIONING THE FOLLOW CITIES BY NAME... CANBY...ST. LEO...AND HAZEL RUN. THREE TOUCHDOWNS...7 MILES NE OF CANBY...5 MILES S OF ST. LEO AND 5 MILES W OF HAZEL RUN. NUMEROUS OUT BUILDINGS DESTROYED..I.E.CATTLE SHEDS, GRANERIES ETC.
