SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN TX 630 AM CDT SUN MAY 31 1987 ...THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR TRAVIS AND ALL SURROUNDING COUNTIES IN CENTRAL TEXAS... THUNDERSTORMS AND HEAVY RAINS WERE ONCE AGAIN MOVING INTO THE WESTERN HILL COUNTRY...NORTHWEST AND WEST OF SAN ANTONIO. THEY WERE MOVING TOWARDS THE NORTHEAST AT 10 TO 15 MPH. THE CLOSEST THUNDER- STORM TO AUSTIN AT THIS TIME IS SOME 100 MILES TO THE SOUTHWEST. CONDITIONS REMAIN VERY UNSTABLE AND REFORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF ADDITIONAL SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS LATER TODAY WILL ONCE AGAIN INCREASE THE FLASH FLOOD THREAT. NUMEROUS RELEASES HAVE COME OUT OF BOTH THE AUSTIN AND SAN ANTONIO OFFICES CO*NCERNING OUR MINI-MONSOON SEASON. BROADCASTERS PAY PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE SAFETY RULES AND REPEAT THESE OFTEN, ESPECIALLY WHEN HEAVY RAINS BEGIN OR MOVE IN.
