000 TTAA00 KDDC 012235 SVRDDC KSC189-012340- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DODGE CITY KS 535 PM CDT WED JUL 1 1987 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 640 PM CDT FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTY OF SOUTHWEST KANSAS... SOUTHERN STEVENS RADAR INDICATES A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM ENTERING SOUTHERN STEVENS COUNTY KS FROM THE OLAHOMA PANHANDLE. THE STORM APPEARS ALSO TO STILL BE IN THE DEVELOPMENT STAGE. THE STORM IS ON THE OKLAHOMA LINE ABOUT 10 MILES SOUTHEAST OF HUGOTON. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF THIS THUNDERSTORM GET TO A SAFE SHELTER AND PREPARE FOR STRONG WINDS...LARGE HAIL...HEAVY RAINS...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING. AT 520 PM CDT A VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WAS LOCATED ABOUT 75 MILES SOUTHWEST OF GARDEN CITY. THIS THUNDERSTORM CENTER WAS OVER OPTIMA OKLAHOMA AND SPREAD OVER THE SOUTHERN PORTION OF STEVENS COUNTY 8 MILES SOUTH OF HOUGOTON KANSAS. THIS THUNDERSTORMS WAS GAINING STRENGTH AS IT BUILDS AND WAS SLOWLY MOVING EAST. STEVENS COUNTY IS INCLUDED IN A TORNADO WATCH AREA TILL 9 PM THIS EVENING. PERSONS IN SOUTHERN STEVENS COUNTY AND SOUTHERN SEWARD COUNTY SHOULD KEEP ALERT TO RAPIDLY CHANGING WEATHER. TORNADOS CAN FORM WITH LITTLE IF ANY WARNING. NOLLER
