SPECIAL WEATHER ANDMARINE WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAMPA BAY AREA RUSKIN FL 600 AM EST SAT FEB 8 1986 A CLUSTER OF VERY HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS WERE IN THE GULF OF MEXICO ABOUT 50 MILES OFFSHORE FROM THE MOUTH OF TAMPA BAY AND WERE MOVING EAST TO NORTHEAST AT AROUND 20 MPH. OTHER HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS STRECTHED FROM NEAR CHARLOTTE HARBOR WEST FOR OVER 100 MILES INTO THE GULF OF MEXICO AND WERE MOVING EAST AT 20 MPH. MARINE INTERESTS AND OPERATORS OF SMALL BOATS ARE ADVISED THAT THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY PRODUCE STRONG GUSTY WINDS..AND LOCALLY ROUGH SEAS DURING THE NEXT COUPLES OF HOURS. IF THE THUNDERSTORMS HOLD TOGETHER THEY SHOULD BE MOVING THROUGH THE TAMPA BAY AND THEB TAMPA BAY METRO AREA BETWEEN 700 TO 900 AM. BOATERS OFF OF CHARLOTTE.. LEE..SARASOTA..MANATEE..HILLSBOROUGH AND PINELLAS COUNTIES SHOULD REMAIN IN PORT DURING THE NEXT FEW HOURS UNTIL THESE THUNDERSTORMS MOVE AWAY FROM THE THE AREA.
