NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RALEIGH/DURHAM, NC
300 PM EDT SAT JUL 12 1986

VERY HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED OVER A PORTION OF THE
COASTAL PLAIN OF NORTH CAROLINA.

AT 3PM WEATHER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDING
FROM JUST SOUTH OF ROCKY MOUNT-WILSON SOUTHWEST TO CLAYTON IN
NORTHERN JOHNSTON COUNTY. THE STRONGEST OF THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE
LOCATED OVER CENTRAL WILSON COUNTY MAINLY NEAR ELM CITY AND WILSON.

SOME WIND DAMAGE WAS REPORTED FROM A THUNDERSTORM THAT PASSED THROUGH
EMIT IN NORTHERN JOHNSTON COUNTY AROUND 220PM THIS AFTERNOON.

PERSONS OVER THE COASTAL PLAIN OF NORTH CAROLINA SHOULD BE ALERT TO
RAPID CHANGING CONDITIONS THIS AFTERNOON. THE THUNDERSTORMS WILL
LIKELY BE ACCOMPANIED BY STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND VERY HEAVY RAIN.
