000 TTAA00 KRDU 122022 SVRRDU NCC191-122130- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RALEIGH/DURHAM NC 422 PM EDT SAT JUL 12 1986 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 530 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY OF NORTH CAROLINA...WAYNE AT 420PM A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS INDICATED BY RADAR OVER WAYNE COUNTY JUST TO THE NORTH OF THE CITY OF GOLSBORO SOUTHWEST TO THE JOHNSTON COUNTY LINE. THIS THUNDERSTORM IS MOVING EAST AT 15 TO 20 MPH. THE PROJECTED PATH OF THIS STORM IS OVER OR NEAR GOLDSBORO. PEOPLE IN THE PATH OF THIS STORM SHOULD BE ALERT FOR LARGE HAIL... DAMAGING WINDS...FREQUENT LIGHTNING AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN. REPORT ANY SEVERE WEATHER TO THE NEAREST LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY. SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RALEIGH/DURHAM, NC 300 PM EDT SAT JUL 12 1986 VERY HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED OVER A PORTION OF THE COASTAL PLAIN OF NORTH CAROLINA. AT 3PM WEATHER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDING FROM JUST SOUTH OF ROCKY MOUNT-WILSON SOUTHWEST TO CLAYTON IN NORTHERN JOHNSTON COUNTY. THE STRONGEST OF THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED OVER CENTRAL WILSON COUNTY MAINLY NEAR ELM CITY AND WILSON. SOME WIND DAMAGE WAS REPORTED FROM A THUNDERSTORM THAT PASSED THROUGH EMIT IN NORTHERN JOHNSTON COUNTY AROUND 220PM THIS AFTERNOON. PERSONS OVER THE COASTAL PLAIN OF NORTH CAROLINA SHOULD BE ALERT TO RAPID CHANGING CONDITIONS THIS AFTERNOON. THE THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY BE ACCOMPANIED BY STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND VERY HEAVY RAIN.
