000 TTAA00 KICT 080614 SVRICT KSC015-173-080700- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WICHITA KS 112 AM CDT FRI AUG 8 1986 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 200 AM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES OF SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS...SEDGWICK AND BUTLER AT 110 AM CDT A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS INDICATED JUST NORTH OF WICHITA MOVING EAST AT 20 MPH. PEOPLE IN THE PATOH OF THIS STORM SHOULD MOVE TO A REINFORCED BUILDING AND STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS...DAMAGING WINDS...LARGE HAIL...FREQUENT DANGEROUS LIGHTNING AND HEAVY DOWNPOURS THAT CAN QUICKLY FLOOD LOW-LYING AREAS ARE LIKELY.

AT 12 30 AM CDT...VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WERE IN KANSAS...SOUTH OF A LINE FROM NEAR GARDEN CITY TO HUTCHINSON TO NEWTON THEN SOUTH EAST TO NEAR JOPLIN MISSOURI. THE STRONGEST WERE IN CENTRAL RENO AND STAFFORD COUNTIES. THESE STORMS WERE PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINS..SOME HAIL ,AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS. MOVEMENT WAS TO THE EAST AT 20 MPH. PERSONS IN RENO..NORTHERN SEDGWICK AND HARVEY COUNTIES SHOULD BE ALERT FOR THE STORMS AND TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS AS THE STORMS MOVE ACROSS THOSE AREAS.
