SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT AND RADAR SUMMARY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WICHITA KS 1235 AM CDT FRI AUG 8 1986 ...VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS SOUTH PARTS OF KANSAS... AT 12 30 AM CDT...VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WERE IN KANSAS...SOUTH OF A LINE FROM NEAR GARDEN CITY TO HUTCHINSON TO NEWTON THEN SOUTH EAST TO NEAR JOPLIN MISSOURI. THE STRONGEST WERE IN CENTRAL RENO AND STAFFORD COUNTIES. THESE STORMS WERE PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINS..SOME HAIL ,AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS. MOVEMENT WAS TO THE EAST AT 20 MPH. PERSONS IN RENO..NORTHERN SEDGWICK AND HARVEY COUNTIES SHOULD BE ALERT FOR THE STORMS AND TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS AS THE STORMS MOVE ACROSS THOSE AREAS.
