000 TTAA00 KGRI 052326 TORGRI NEC019-163-060000- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED/EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED TORNADO WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GRAND ISLAND NE 626 PM CDT FRI SEP 5 1986 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 700 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES OF SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA...EASTERN BUFFALO AND WESTERN SHERMAN AT 6 25 PM CDT RADAR INDICATED A POSSIBLE TORNADO JUST E OF ANSLEY NEB. MOVING TO THE SOUTHEAST AT 25 MPH. PERSONS IN THE WARNED AREA SHOULD TAKE SHELTER IN A BASEMENT IF AVAILABLE. OTHERWISE GO TO A SMALL INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR. CARS AND MOBILE HOMES SHOULD BE ABANDONED. PEOPLE IN THE PATH OF THIS TORNADO SHOULD TAKE COVER IMMEDIATELY TO SAVE YOUR LIVES. IF YOU ARE CAUGHT IN THE OPEN..TRY TO HIDE IN A DEPRESSION LIKE A DITCH OR CULVERT. SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT AND RADAR SUMMARY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GRAND ISLAND NE 5 30 PM CDT FRI SEPT 5 1986 AT 5 30 PM CDT INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS WERE DEVELOPING RAPIDLY IN SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA. STORMS LOCATED NEAR LEXINGTON...NEAR BROKEN BOW AND JUST NORTHEAST OF KEARNEY WERE LIKELY TO PRODUCE HAIL AND EXTREMELY HEAVY RAIN AS THEY MOVE EASTWARD AT NEARLY 40 MPH. STORMS HAD ALSO BEGUN TO DEVELOP IN NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS JUST EAST OF RUSSELL AND 40 MILES NORTH OF RUSSELL. IN BOTH SOUTHCENTRAL NEBRASKA AND NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS THE STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME MORE NUMEROUS DURING THE EVENING.
