THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 235 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES:
IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA
..COBB FULTON
A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS INDICATED BY RADAR JUST NORTHWEST OF ATLANTA
NEAR SMYRNA. MARBLE SIZE HAIL HAS BEEN OBSERVED AND WINDS GUSTS TO 50
MPH HAS BEEN ESTIMATED IN THIS STORM.
THERE WAS LITTLE MOVEMENT TO THE STORM.
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH,
DESTRUCTIVE HAIL, DEADLY LIGHTNING AND VERY HEAVY RAINFALL. FOR YOUR
PROTECTION MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF YOUR HOME OR
BUSINESS. HEAVY RAINS FLOOD ROADS QUICKLY SO DON'T DRIVE INTO AREAS

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ATHENS GEORGIA 1255 PM EDT SUN JUL 27 1986 THUNDERSTORMS FORMING AT A RAPID RATE OVER THE NORTHERN PART OF GEORGIA AT 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON.. MAIN FORMING AREA HAS BEEN FROM ATHENS NORTHWESTWARD. SEVERE CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING IS EXPECTED ALONG WITH BRIEF GUSTY WINDS AND HEAVY DOWNPOURS.. PERSONS SHOULD SEEK SHELTER AWAY FROM THE STORMS AS THEY FORM NEAR THEM. BOATERS SHOULD BE VERY ALERT TO ANY FORMING CLOUDS IN THEIR AREA.
