FLASH FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN ANTONIO TX
449 AM CDT SUN SEP 7 1986

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING 
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 900 AM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES OF

SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS...ATASCOSA...FRIO AND ZAVALA

AT 450 AM CDT STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WERE PERSISTING IN ZAVALA..
NORTHERN FRIO..AND CENTRAL ATASCOSA COUNTIES.  THESE THUNDERSTORMS
WERE MOVING SLOWLY NORTHEAST.  RADAR ESTIMATES OF RAINFALL
INDICATE AS MUCH AS 4 INCHES OF RAIN MAY HAVE FALLEN IN ZAVALA..
NORTHERN FRIO..AND SOUTHERN ATASCOSA COUNTIES SINCE MIDNIGHT.
PERSONS NEAR CREEKS AND RIVERS IN THESE COUNTIES SHOULD MOVE TO
HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR HAS BEEN
REPORTED.  TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS AS REQUIRED TO PROTECT LIFE
AND PROPERTY.

REMEMBER..DEATHS DURING FLASH FLOODING ARE FREQUENTLY RELATED TO
MOTORISTS DRIVING INTO FLOODED LOW WATER CROSSINGS.
