SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DES MOINES IA 400 PM CST FRI APR 25 1986 ..STRONG WINDS IN WESTERN IOWA.. WHILE CONDITIONS ARE QUITE WINDY ALL ACROSS IOWA THIS AFTERNOON.. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE IN WESTERN IOWA. WINDS GUSTS OF OVER 65 MPH HAVE OCCURRED IN THE CARROLL AREA SINCE 300 PM..AND VERY STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS ARE MOST PREVALENT IN WEST CENTRAL AND NORTHWEST IOWA. AT 244 PM A WIND GUST OF 51 MPH WAS RECORDED AT SIOUX CITY. THESE WINDS ARE NOT ASSOCIATED WITH ANY THUNDERSTORMS..BUT ARE THE RESULT OF A LOW PRESSURE AREA MOVING ACROSS NEBRASKA AND SOUTH DAKOTA. THE WINDS WILL CONTINUE INTO THIS EVENING..BUT WILL BEGIN TO LESSEN BY LATE TONIGHT. A/ TORNADO WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR MUCH OF NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHWEST IOWA TILL 1000 PM THIS EVENING. DOWD
