The eruption of the the Dukono volcano, located in the northern Halmahera island (the main island of the Maluku islands, eastern Indonesia) on 7 May, resulted in casualties. Its activity is still ongoing, on 11 May a new explosion occurred with an ash column that reached 2,000 m above the crater.
According to the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), a total of three people have died due to volcanic material that buried their bodies. Additionally 15 people have been rescues by the emergency teams. (reference #14374)
