On 03 June 2024, at 10:51 UTC, a moderately explosive eruption occurred at the summit crater of Kanlaon Volcano. The event was recorded as an E-type earthquake that lasted six (6) minutes based on seismic data and produced a five (5) kilometer-high voluminous eruption plume. Incandescent ballistic ejecta were also observed to rain down from the eruption plume. Explosive activity at Kanlaon on 3 June 2024 was immediately succeeded by profuse degassing from the summit crater that waned by 00:20 UTC on 4 June 2024. 1 lahar was reported and one road was closed completely. 2,680 houses were partially damaged and approximately 1595.81 hectares of crop area was damaged. Damages and losses to agriculture cost approximately $2.6 million USD across two regions. (reference #13845)
