October 10, 1883, about 22:00, Java Island, Djikawung. At Tjikawung on the coast of Slamadatang Bay, a wave was observed which flooded the beach 75 m beyond the usual high high tideline. A dull roar came from Krakatau, and was heard not only at Tjikawung, but also a little to the north at Sumur.
