Peterhead, Scotland 2008. On the 28 May 2008, according to the harbourmaster of Peterhead’s report, there was a sudden outflow of water from the harbour, followed by a sudden return about 10 min later. There was also a similar phenomenon reported at Fraserburgh and in the Faeroe Islands. The cause of this event appears to be a pressure anomaly moving northward over the North Sea, as presented by Sibley et al. (2016), which confirms this to be a meteotsunami. (reference #14269)
