1961, May 23, 02:45 UTC. Tsunami validity 3 (probable). Aegean Sea, Asia Minor, Izmir. The color of the water in the Gulf of Izmir changed after the earthquake, and it was filled with algae. Some inhabitants of the coast noticed a weak wave. (reference #2130)
