   Considerable damage. Roofs torn off well-built houses, frame homes shifted on their foundations, mobile homes destroyed, large trees snapped or uprooted, cars lifted off the ground.

   Severe damage. Whole stories of well-built houses destroyed, large buildings badly damaged, trains overturned, trees debarked, heavy cars lifted and thrown.

   Devastating damage. Well-built houses leveled, structures with weak foundations moved some distance, cars thrown and large missiles generated.

6. EF5over 200 mph

   Incredible damage. Strong frame houses swept off their foundations, car-sized missiles thrown more than 100 meters, steel-reinforced concrete badly damaged, high-rise buildings deformed.

A line of heavy rain showers and thunderstorms moved over the North Carolina foothills during the late afternoon and evening in advance of a cold front. A couple of areas of isolated damaging winds along with weak tornadoes were reported as the line swept across the area.

NWS storm survey found the path of a weak tornado that touched down near the intersection of Muddy Creek Rd and Autumn View Dr. The tornado moved northeast, just west of Muddy Creek Rd, ripping the flat roof off of a shed at a home, and causing numerous trees to fall.
