   Light damage. Surface peeled off some roofs, gutters and siding damaged, branches broken, shallow-rooted trees pushed over.

   Moderate damage. Roofs badly stripped, mobile homes overturned or badly damaged, exterior doors lost, windows broken.

   Considerable damage. Roofs torn off well-built houses, frame homes shifted on their foundations, mobile homes destroyed, large trees snapped or uprooted, cars lifted off the ground.

4. EF3136 to 165 mph

   Severe damage. Whole stories of well-built houses destroyed, large buildings badly damaged, trains overturned, trees debarked, heavy cars lifted and thrown.

5. EF4166 to 200 mph

   Devastating damage. Well-built houses leveled, structures with weak foundations moved some distance, cars thrown and large missiles generated.

6. EF5over 200 mph

   Incredible damage. Strong frame houses swept off their foundations, car-sized missiles thrown more than 100 meters, steel-reinforced concrete badly damaged, high-rise buildings deformed.

7. Unrated

   The survey recorded a tornado but could not put a number on it, most often because it crossed open country and damaged nothing a rating can be read from.

A very potent storm system moved out of the Southern Plains States and into the Central Gulf Coast Region Saturday and into Sunday morning. This system produced widespread severe weather from Texas to Alabama, including numerous tornadoes. A line of severe storms moved into West Alabama shortly before midnight Saturday night and progressed eastward across all of Central Alabama. The line of storms produced pockets of damaging straight line winds, localized flooding, and several tornadoes.

National Weather Service meteorologists surveyed damage in southwest Pike County and determined that it was consistent with an EF0 tornado, with maximum sustained winds near 70 mph.||The tornado initially touched down north of County Road 6, several miles south of Goshen. It tracked north-northeast mainly over rural farmlands and open fields. Due to the lack of road access, the path width and length were estimated. Wind speeds were based on trees uprooted west of County Road 2243. The survey was prompted by a distinct TDS from the Fort Rucker WSR-88D.

National Weather Service meteorologists surveyed damage in far western Pike County and determined that it was consistent with an EF0 tornado, with maximum sustained winds near 70 mph. ||The tornado initially touched down just west of Jones Bridge Road in Crenshaw County.|The tornado crossed into Pike County just north of Greenville Avenue and lifted west of the town of Goshen. Damage in Pike County consisted mostly of uprooted trees and a gas station suffered minor damage.

National Weather Service meteorologists surveyed damage in Pike County and determined that it was consistent with an EF1 tornado, with maximum sustained winds near 95 mph.||The tornado touched down in a mobile home community named Hunters Mountain Mobile Estates. Several mobile homes sustained major damage. Around one dozen mobile homes were moved off their foundations, while several were observed to have rolled multiple times. Several of these mobile homes were occupied, but only minor injuries were reported. Two cars were also rolled in the area of greatest damage. The tornado tracked northeast crossing Highway 231, where power poles were snapped and several businesses sustained minor damage. It then tracked just west of downtown Troy, where trees were uprooted and large branches were broken. The tornado crossed Highway 29 where additional businesses sustained minor damage, including an awning and several roofs. Several homes north of downtown sustained minor roof damage along with nearby uprooted trees. The tornado then tracked northeast and lifted near Gibbs Street, just southwest of Troy Elementary School.
