* WHAT...Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...Coastal Brunswick County. * WHEN...From 6 PM to 10 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Low-lying roads and locations along the Intracoastal Waterway and adjacent tidal creeks may observe minor coastal flooding. Check with local officials for any road closures or impacts. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Affected areas listed are based on average tide conditions. Additional locations may experience flooding during periods of heavy rainfall, high winds, or other factors.
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
7-day current table

Other depths
NOAA predicts the current at more than one depth here. This page is for the shallowest; the water deeper down turns at different times and runs at different speeds.
| Depth | Strongest flood today | Strongest ebb today |
|---|---|---|
| 7 ft | 1.5 kt 6:15 AM | 2.2 kt 1:08 AM |
| 20 ft | 1.3 kt 6:41 PM | 1.7 kt 12:56 AM |
| 33 ft | 1.4 kt 6:25 PM | 1.2 kt 12:49 AM |
What this means
The flood is the tidal current running in from the sea, the ebb the current running back out. Slack water is the short turn between them, when the current is weakest: the time to cross a strong channel, anchor, or dive. Slack in a channel is not the time of high or low tide; it can come hours after.
Speeds are knots along the channel's main axis, and directions are degrees true toward which the water flows, as NOAA prints its tables. A current against the wind stands the waves up steep and close together.
Predictions are astronomical: the moon and the sun, not the weather. Strong wind, river flow after heavy rain and storm surge all change the real current.
