- Winter Weather in Virginia, February 5 to 6, 2004An area of low pressure produced freezing rain and sleet in Northern Virginia as it tracked northeast. One to two tenths inch of ice accumulated. This ice coated surfaces, downed power lines. and felled trees.
- Winter Weather in Virginia, January 26 to 27, 2004An area of low pressure moved across the area on the 26th and 27th. This low produced a second round of freezing rain and snow across the region. Due to the inclement weather Federal agencies in the Washington DC Metropolitan area closed three hours early on the 27th.
- Winter Weather in Virginia, November 17, 2019Moisture from the Atlantic ocean overran surface colder air in place, resulting in some freezing drizzle and light freezing rain. Ice amounts ranged from a trace to a couple hundredths of an inch over the Blue Ridge Mountains into portions of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia.
- Winter Weather in Virginia, December 17, 2016Warm and moist air overran an arctic air mass that was in place. This resulted in a period of freezing rain that caused hazardous conditions.
- Winter Weather in Virginia, December 17, 2016Light freezing rain fell during the early morning hours across Amherst County, VA. Resultant slick surfaces, and motorists driving too fast for conditions, lead to multiple accidents, one involving a fatality.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Virginia, February 10 to 12, 2019Surface high pressure was located over the region on the morning of February 10th. This gave way to several waves of low pressure that moved near the region from the evening of the 10th and through the 12th.
- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Virginia, December 26, 2012An intense upper low and associated surface low tracked from the Tennessee Valley across southwest Virginia and Delmarva region from the 26th into the 27th. A variety of winter weather accompanied the system beginning late Christmas night and continuing into the 26th.
- Winter Weather in Virginia, January 5, 2014Numerous auto accidents were reported across the Piedmont of Virginia into the New River Valley as a weak wedge of high pressure allowed temperatures across much of the area to fall into the low 30s and upper 20s.
- Winter Weather in Virginia, January 29, 2019A strong surface cold front crossed the region from west to east on January 29th. As it did so, a wave of low pressure developed along the frontal boundary over southwestern Virginia and moved northeastward to a position near Philadelphia by the evening of the 29th.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Virginia, January 21 to 22, 2014An Alberta clipper cold front passed across the central Appalachian Mountains, supported aloft by a strong upper level trough.
- Winter Weather in Virginia, December 14, 2003An area of low pressure developed over the Gulf Coast region and tracked northeast into the Mid Atlantic region. The storm produced a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain. Snowfall totals across Northeast Virginia averaged 3 to 4 inches.
- Winter Weather in Virginia, February 7, 2022A light wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain across southern Virginia resulted in a glaze of ice, which in turn caused multiple vehicle accidents on the morning of February 7.
- Winter Weather in Virginia, January 20, 2016A fast moving clipper system brought light snowfall accumulations across portions of southwest Virginia during the overnight hours on January 20th/21st.
- Ice Storm and Winter Weather in Virginia, January 14 to 15, 1999A strong arctic cold front moved slowly southeast across the Mid-Atlantic region from late on the 13th to midday on the 15th. This front brought a thin layer of sub freezing air to the lowest levels of the atmosphere, but just off the surface warmer air moved in.
- Ice Storm and Winter Weather in Virginia, January 15 to 16, 1998Warm moist air overrunning shallow polar surface air produced a variety of winter weather, starting around daybreak on the 15th and continuing just after midnight on the 16th.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Virginia, January 24 to 26, 2026Broad scale upper lift led to a complex winter storm across southwestern Virginia, with onset precipitation of snow transitioning to a long period of freezing rain and icing conditions. Precipitation eventually changed over in all locations to rain.
- Winter Weather in Virginia, February 18 to 19, 2021Strong surface high pressure centered from the Midwest into New England helped to supply low level cold air into the area, as a prolonged Classic Cold Air Damming regime was in place throughout the duration of the event.

- Winter Weather in Virginia, December 30, 2016An upper level disturbance brought light snow to areas along and near the Interstate 81 corridor between Pulaski and Botetourt Counties.
- Ice Storm and Winter Weather in Virginia, February 1, 2008An area of low pressure over the Lower Mississippi River Valley moved up the Appalachians on February 1st. Warmer temperatures aloft combined with subfreezing temperatures at the surface to produce widespread freezing rain across the Mid Atlantic.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Virginia, January 2 to 3, 2022A frontal boundary stalled in the Mid-Atlantic, stretching from the Tidewater Region of Virginia southwest to Georgia. On January 3rd, a surface low formed along the front and traveled northeast along it, going over the Carolinas and Virginia.
