- Excessive Heat and Heat in Tennessee, August 1 to 5, 2010An upper level ridge of high pressure further intensified over the Mid-South continuing from the end of July into the beginning of August. The upper ridge of high pressure produced above normal temperatures over the area.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Tennessee, August 8 to 15, 2010An upper level ridge of high pressure further intensified over the Mid-South continuing into the middle of August. The upper ridge of high pressure produced above normal temperatures over the area.
- Excessive Heat in Tennessee, August 3 to 7, 2011A strong upper ridge of high pressure moved over the Mid-South during the beginning of August. As a result...very hot temperatures with readings near 100 degrees combined with humid conditions to produce dangerous heat indices between 110 to 120 degrees.
- Excessive Heat in Tennessee, July 28 to 29, 2015An upper ridge of high pressure moved over the Mid-South during the late July time frame. The ridge brought above normal temperatures to the area.
- Excessive Heat in Tennessee, August 4, 2010Afternoon heat index readings ranged from 110 to 115 degrees over much of Middle Tennessee on August 4th.
- Excessive Heat and Hail in Tennessee, June 29, 2023A Mesoscale Convective System (MCS) developed over Illinois and Indiana early on June 29, 2023, and traveled southward into Middle Tennessee by late morning and early afternoon.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Tennessee, August 19 to 22, 2010An upper level ridge of high pressure remained over the Mid-South during the middle to latter part of August. The upper ridge of high pressure produced above normal temperatures over the area.
- Excessive Heat in Tennessee, July 10 to 13, 2011A strong upper ridge of high pressure moved over the Mid-South during the middle part of July. As a result, high temperatures ranged in the mid 90s to low 100s. Dewpoints ranged from the lower to upper 70s.
- Excessive Heat in Tennessee, August 5, 2016High heat and humidity contributed to heat indices of 110 degrees or better across a large portion of the Midsouth from the late morning through the early evening hours of August 5th.
- Excessive Heat in Tennessee, August 15, 2007A carnival worker died at the site of the Wilson County Fair.
- Excessive Heat in Tennessee, August 1, 2007Unusually warm temperatures in the upper 90s caused one heat related fatality.
- Excessive Heat and Damaging Winds in Tennessee, July 1, 2023A line of thunderstorms tracked eastward across Middle Tennessee early in the afternoon of July 1, 2023. With an abundant amount of instability in place, these thunderstorms quickly became severe with damaging winds the primary threat.
- Excessive Heat and Damaging Winds in Tennessee, June 30, 2023The first part of the day on June 30, 2023, was characterized by dangerous hot and humid conditions across most of Middle Tennessee as heat index values soared to 115 to 125 degrees. With these hot temperatures, an abundant amount of instability was in place across the area.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Tennessee, August 16 to 19, 2025A strong, stationary heat dome brought oppressive heat to the Mid-South in mid to late August. The region was fed by warm, moist air from the Gulf, which elevated dewpoints and thus made heat-index values much higher than the actual air temperature alone.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Tennessee, July 29 to 31, 2025Oppressive heat continued to plague the Mid-South as an intense ridge retrograded across the Lower Mississippi Valley. Highs ranged from the upper 90s to the lower 100s. Dewpoints across the region soared into the upper 70s and low 80s.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Tennessee, July 21 to 28, 2022Upper-level high pressure continued over the region. Hot and humid conditions prevailed for much of the month.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Tennessee, July 4 to 9, 2022Upper-level high pressure strengthened over the region. Hot and humid conditions developed in early July and continued for much of the month.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Tennessee, June 25 to 30, 2023The strong upper ridge of high pressure that has dominated the weather across the southwest US pushed east into the Mid-South toward the end of June. High temperatures combined with high humidity produced heat index values over 105 degrees and in some cases over 110 degrees.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Tennessee, July 23 to 25, 2025A strong ridge remained centered over the mid and lower Mississippi River Valley and continued to bring oppressive heat to the region. Daytime heat indices exceeded 105 degrees nearly areawide, with some areas exceeding 110 degrees.
- Excessive Heat and Heat in Tennessee, August 20 to 31, 2023The strong upper ridge of high pressure that dominated the weather across the southwest US during the summer of 2023 bulged east into the Mid-South at times during the month of August.
