- Freezing Fog in Missouri, January 17 to 18, 2017Freezing fog overnight and into the morning hours of January 18, 2017 caused several accidents on local roadways. The most notable incident occurred when a vehicle slid into another vehicle, causing one fatality and one injury.
- Freezing Fog in Missouri, December 22, 2009Freezing fog developed on the back side of a high pressure ridge over the Upper Ohio Valley. The freezing fog was dense across southeast Missouri, where visibility was one-quarter mile or less. A light accretion of ice was observed, mostly on elevated surfaces such as vehicles.
- Dense Fog and Freezing Fog in Missouri, January 21 to 22, 2026Clear skies and calm winds following a cold frontal passage allowed for locally dense fog to form over most counties in Southeast Missouri late evening on the 21st through the early AM hours of the 22nd.
- Freezing Fog in Missouri, January 18, 2010Dense freezing fog occurred over parts of southeast Missouri as a result of high pressure over the Lower Ohio and Mid Mississippi Valleys. Light winds, high humidity, and areas of clear sky associated with this high caused dense fog to form.
- Freezing Fog in Missouri, December 4 to 5, 2023Widespread dense freezing fog reduced visibility to one-quarter mile or less in far southeastern Missouri near the Ohio/Mississippi River confluence. Fog development occurred in an area of clear skies and calm winds ahead of a cold frontal passage.
- Freezing Fog in Missouri, December 21, 2009With cold air in place and sufficient moisture content in the lowest levels of the atmosphere, freezing fog developed near Poplar Bluff and along the Mississippi River near and south of Cairo, IL. Icy conditions were reported on many bridges and overpasses.
