- Dust Storm and Damaging Winds in Kansas, March 14, 2025A strong cold front moved east through Northwest Kansas during the afternoon. As the cold front moved into Kansas, a wall of dust formed along the front, with the blowing dust continuing for hours afterward.
- Dust Storm in Kansas, January 16, 2014Strong winds and lack of recent rainfall resulted in a widespread blowing dust event from late morning through mid-afternoon. Local areas experienced sharp reductions in visibilities near open fields.

- Tornado and Flash Flooding in Kansas, June 20 to 23, 2026Scattered to numerous thunderstorms impacted northwest Kansas from the mid-afternoon hours through the late evening hours on the 20th, in vicinity of deepening low pressure over eastern Colorado. Thunderstorms started out as more isolated and moved eastward.
- Dust Storm and Hail in Kansas, May 25, 2024Showers and storms formed east of the Front Range during the mid to late afternoon hours on May 25th. These thunderstorms then ejected outflow across the area leading to some reports of winds in excess of 55 mph.
- Wildfire and Dust Storm in Kansas, October 11, 2020A strong southeastward cold front produced high wind gusts ranging from 27 to 81 mph. These high winds lasted for various durations of time, ranging from six minutes to one hour and fifty minutes after frontal passage.
- Dust Storm and Hail in Kansas, April 2, 2015An intense thunderstorm developed over Cheyenne County in eastern Colorado and collapsed as it crossed into Kansas. Winds estimated at 100 mph produced significant damage to a residence in far northwestern Greeley county as well as to a dairy farming operation further east.

Blowing dirt reduced visibility locally to less than 1/4 mile at times. Minor damage occurred across the region.

Blowing dust was also reported in the region due to these high winds that reduced visibilities down to near zero in some locations.
- Wildfire and Dust Storm in Kansas, April 17 to 18, 2018A strong cold front brought high winds, blowing dust, and a wildfire to Northwest Kansas. The high winds led to some wind damage across the area. In addition, the winds caused widespread blowing dust with zero visibility, which resulted in at least 2 accidents on area roadways.
- Tornado and Dust Storm in Kansas, May 16 to 17, 2026During the late afternoon, and into the evening, numerous thunderstorms formed over Northwest Kansas in the vicinity of a sharpening dryline. One of them produced hail up to baseball size over and near Goodland.
- Dust Storm and High Wind in Kansas, September 23, 2013A vigorous upper low pressure system moved across the region during the day. Behind the system, strong winds aloft mixed down to the surface with wind gusts of 50 to 70 mph producing localized dust storms, vehicle accidents and road closures.
- Dust Storm and High Wind in Kansas, March 6, 2018During the late morning and through the early afternoon high winds on the backside of an upper level storm system reached the ground. This resulted in wind gusts of 60 to 70 MPH. The peak wind gust occurred in Hoxie.
- Dust Storm and High Wind in Kansas, January 14, 2022On January 14th, a cold front passed through northwestern Kansas during the afternoon. Winds behind this cold front gusted up to 60 mph causing blowing dust. Due to these winds, several automobile accidents were reported in the region.
- Tornado and Flood in Kansas, April 25, 2024In the early afternoon of the 25th, multiple storms formed in northwestern Kansas and moved north-northeast. There were multiple clusters, or waves, of storms throughout the afternoon to overnight hours.
- Dust Storm and Hail in Kansas, May 14, 2025During the evening a group of thunderstorms moved northeast through part of Northwest Kansas. The main threat with these storms was straight-line winds with the storm activity, which continued for some locations after the thunderstorms had ended.
- Wildfire and Dust Storm in Kansas, March 31, 2023An intense low pressure system tracked across the Plains on March 31st, 2023. South central and southeast Kansas reported wind gusts in the 55 to 70 mph range, which caused tree and structure damage. These winds made grass fires very difficult to control.
- Tornado and Dust Storm in Kansas, June 2, 2025In the late afternoon of the 2nd, a cluster of storms formed in far western Kansas and proceeded to the north-northeast. Across western Kansas, these storms produced winds up to 80 MPH and penny sized hail.
- Dust Storm and High Wind in Kansas, March 14 to 15, 2026A strong cold front blasted southeast across the region, with high winds ranging from 55 mph to 76 mph in wake of the front during the nighttime hours through the day on the 15th. The highest wind gust was measured near Winona.
- Dust Storm and High Wind in Kansas, March 14, 2025A deep negatively tilted trough ejected into the central plains bringing a high wind event due to the sharp pressure gradient. Multiple reports of 70+ mph gusts were recorded and blowing dust reduced visibilities to below 1/4 miles in some areas.
- Blizzard and Dust Storm in Kansas, March 3 to 4, 2025A strong weather system moved across Northwest Kansas causing a multitude of weather hazards across the area such as blizzard conditions, damaging winds, dust and a wildfire.
