- Winter Storm in Iowa, January 1 to 2, 1999The seasons first winter storm struck Iowa during the New Years Weekend. A complex weather situation unfolded during the day on the first. The upper level system was broken in two pieces.
- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Iowa, November 9 to 10, 2020Unusual warmth with a week of temperatures mainly in the 70s (even 50s and 60s on November 9 less than a day before this storm) was brought to an abrupt end as a deep trough of low pressure moved out of Rockies and into the Plains.
- Winter Storm and Winter Weather in Iowa, February 3, 2008On February 3, 2008 a strong upper air disturbance moving through Missouri, produced an intense overrunning situation across the|region. Many areas of eastern Iowa, western Illinois and northeast Missouri reported thundersnows.
- Winter Storm in Iowa, January 14 to 15, 2007Snow, primarily associated with low pressure aloft, produced heavy accumulations over northwest Iowa. The snow fell from the afternoon of January 14th into the early morning of January 15th.

Broad lift initially within the warm advection zone became increasingly concentrated, with deeper lift in the dendritic growth layer by afternoon across northwest Iowa.

- Winter Storm in Iowa, November 14, 1996Around an inch of snow caused numerous accidents and injuries across the area as roads became slick. East bound lanes of Interstate 80 were closed near the Mississippi river for over an hour, backing up traffic for 20 miles.

- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Iowa, December 10 to 11, 2007A large area of freezing rain fell across the region on December 10-11, 2007. This precipitation occurred on the cold side of a stationary frontal boundary that extended from the southern Plains to the lower Ohio Valley.

- Winter Storm in Iowa, January 10 to 11, 2020A strong winter storm system brought heavy precipitation of 1 to 2 inches to areas along and east of the Mississippi River January 10 into January 11. Much of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois saw a wintry mix of sleet, snow, freezing rain and freezing drizzle.
- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Iowa, February 24 to 25, 2007A widespread and crippling ice/snow storm affected eastern Iowa, northwest and western Illinois, and extreme northeast Missouri on February 24, 2007. This massive ice storm was the worst to affect the region since January 22-23, 1965.
- Winter Storm in Iowa, December 10 to 11, 2000The first major winter storm system in nearly two years struck Iowa during the night of the 10th through the day on the 11th. A large Arctic high pressure area was poised to the northwest of Iowa.
- Winter Storm in Iowa, February 8 to 9, 2001As the storm system mentioned above continued to evolve, cold air was drawn into the system. In part, the cold air moved in, brought in on northerly winds behind the surface low. A secondary factor was the convection.
- Ice Storm and Winter Storm in Iowa, December 1, 2007The seasons first major winter storm moved into Iowa on the 1st. The system developed in the east Pacific off the California and Mexico coasts and lifted northeast into the central U.S. A very strong push of warm air moved into the central U.S. ahead of the storm.
- Winter Storm in Iowa, December 19 to 20, 2012Part 1 of 2: The seasons first major winter storm moved into Iowa during the late afternoon and evening of the 19th and continued into the day on the 20th. A strong low pressure developed over southeast Colorado and pushed east across southern Kansas.
- Winter Storm in Iowa, January 6 to 7, 2010The third winter storm in a months time struck Iowa on the 6th and 7th. A cold airmass was in place over the central U.S. as a strong upper level trough approached from the northwest.
- Winter Storm in Iowa, December 24 to 25, 2009Part 2 of 2: A major winter storm system affected the central U.S. during Christmas week. There were two upper level systems involved with this storm. The southern stream low dove into the southern U.S. and then turned northeast.
- Winter Storm in Iowa, March 8, 1999A major winter storm swept into the central U.S. during the early morning hours of the 8th. For a March storm, this storm could have certainly been much worse however.
- Winter Storm in Iowa, January 29 to 30, 2013A volatile pattern was in place over the central U.S. with a strong long wave trough moving through the area. On the 29th, a strong push of warm to record warm air moved over the state.
- Blizzard and Winter Storm in Iowa, January 11 to 13, 2024A Colorado low lifted out of the Rockies and into the midwest beginning January 11th. Effects of the system would last for several days with heavy snow, strong winds and blizzard conditions, followed by bitter cold.
