The deadliest
- Marine Strong Wind in Hawaiian Waters, January 11, 2009Prefrontal conditions in waters off the west side of the Big Island of Hawaii were contributing factors that led to the death of a boater.
- Marine Strong Wind in Hawaiian Waters, February 17, 2010Strong winds across the waters in Maalaea Bay in Maui caused difficulties for swimmers and surfers. County lifeguards were involved in assisting numerous beach-goers. One individual perished (direct) in the water because of the strong wind.
- Marine High Wind in Hawaiian Waters, July 20, 2014Strong winds from a collapsing thunderstorm north of Maui County swirled through the central valley of Maui and entered Maalaea Bay and surrounding waters. The winds then stirred up waves of 8 to 12 feet.
- Marine High Wind in Hawaiian Waters, January 3, 2015Winds in excess of 40 mph and seas as high as 16 feet drove a 75-foot sailboat, the Hawaii Aloha, aground in waters west of Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. One crew member from this vessel was lost and presumed drowned.
