- Cold in District of Columbia, February 5, 2002A cold front moved through the region during the evening of the 4th. Cold air and a strong northwest wind pushed into the region behind the front during the predawn hours of the 5th.
- Cold in District of Columbia, March 11 to 13, 1998A series of cold fronts ushered in only the second arctic air mass of the winter of 1997/98. The unseasonably cold air, arriving on the heels of a mild and wet February, brought temperatures to their lowest values since the 1st of the year.
- Cold in District of Columbia, January 10, 2004Very cold Arctic air settled over the Washington DC metropolitan area. The minimum temperatures ranged from the single digits to the lower teens, and north winds averaged 10 to 15 mph. The combination produced wind chills of 10 degrees below zero.
- Cold in District of Columbia, January 15 to 16, 2004A fast moving storm system brought light snow to the region on the 14th and 15th. The District and the surrounding suburbs only reported a trace of snowfall. There was some very cold air behind this system.
- Cold in District of Columbia, January 30 to 31, 2019A low pressure system moved into southeastern Canada on January 30th, with a cold front crossing through the Mid-Atlantic states. Cold temperatures and strong northwest winds followed behind the front on the night of the 30th and into the morning of the 31st.
- Cold in District of Columbia, January 21, 2019A low pressure system moved up the eastern seaboard of the United States on January 20th, with cold temperatures and strong northwest winds funneling behind the system from the night of the 20th into the morning of the 21st.
- Cold in District of Columbia, December 23 to 24, 2022A cold northwest wind behind an arctic cold front caused wind chills to drop to around -5 to -10 degrees the evening of the 23rd through the morning of the 24th.
- Cold in District of Columbia, January 20 to 22, 2025Arctic air moved in behind a departing low pressure system on January 20. This Arctic air remained overhead as high pressure dominated through January 22.
- Cold in District of Columbia, February 1 to 2, 2026A rather anomalous Arctic Outbreak continued into the first couple days of February. The remarkable aspect of this outbreak was the duration, as it extends well back into January. Minimum wind chills of -10 to -20F were observed. The coldest wind chills were overnight.
