As of 1 AM, the cold front stretched from Sayre to Perry, with
the strongest winds concentrated in the Oklahoma and Texas
panhandles. Ahead of the front, there is a brief lull in the wind
speeds, with southeast winds going nearly calm about 50 miles to
the south of the front. This won't last too terribly long, with
northeast winds along and behind the front increasing to 30 to 40
mph.
Latest CAMs remain consistent in bringing the front through much
of Oklahoma between 10-12Z, and keeping strong winds at least
through the morning hours. With the north winds, there will be a
distinct cooldown compared to the past few days. Some areas will
struggle to get out of the 50s in the north, with lower 60s being
common in the south.
Maybe more importantly, some of us will be lucky to see a few
raindrops, but any rain will not amount to much. In fact, the rain
may fall as drizzle or virga, which would accelerate some air
downward, increasing localized areas of gusty winds...on top of
the already gusty winds behind the front.

Tonight and Saturday will be pretty nice. Any lingering rain or
drizzle from Friday afternoon will move south by Friday night,
allowing the winds to relax finally. Early Saturday morning will
actually feel like March, with near freezing temperatures across
the northern third of Oklahoma. Temperatures rebound into the mid
60s once again Saturday afternoon.

(Sunday through next Thursday)

The longer term forecast is looking active. The good news is that
by Wednesday and Thursday will begin to bring back some chances
for rain and thunderstorms across the area. The bad news is that
the chances will be focused on the dry line. As the dry line
progresses eastward on the 1st and 2nd, there will likely be two
active areas, fire weather potential behind the dry line, and
strong thunderstorms to the east of the dry line.
Extended models and their ensembles are in relatively good
agreement in this progression, so confidence is increasing that a
much needed pattern change to more active systems may indeed be in
the works.

Strong northerly winds with gusts of 40-50 mph are expected to
gradually diminish by early evening. MVFR conditions are
anticipated to lift by mid-day though broken to overcast skies
remain near/south of I-40 into the evening. Light rain is possible
this morning, especially for KPNC/KSWO, with sprinkles possible
near the OKC metro. There is also a chance of light rain near KDUA
this afternoon and evening.
