Tornadoes and Damaging Winds in Indiana, June 11, 2026

A long-track tornado initially touched down near the intersection|of Grand Boulevard and Clay Street just east of Interstate 65 in|rural Lake County and continued northeastward into southern Porter|County just north of the Kankakee River. Damage near the beginning|of the path consisted of downed and uprooted trees. The tornado|appeared to increase in size and intensity after crossing US|Highway 231, damaging the walls and roofing of several homes near|W 1000 S just north of Breyfogel Ditch.

As the tornado continued northeastward, it further strengthened |and widened. The tornado reached its peak intensity of EF-3 from |just north of Kouts to just west of the Porter and LaPorte county |line. In this area, several homes were destroyed, and two separate|sets of high tension power trusses were sheared apart and |collapsed. There was significant scouring of the ground and damage|to crops in this region, as well. The tornado began to weaken as |it crossed into LaPorte County, where drone footage continued to |show swirl marks in fields as it tracked northeast and eventually |turned toward the north-northeast.

In La Porte county, a center pivot irrigation system was flipped|south of W 1600 S. The tornado took a quick turn to the left |as it began to weaken. Several residences were impacted along |S 1050 W with areas of snapped and uprooted trees. An attached|garage suffered damage as winds broke through a garage door |and blew out the back wall (east facing). The tornado lifted |shortly after impacting these residences. Although the track in StormData shows less than two miles, the curved track extended two and a half miles into La Porte county.

Drone footage from Cass County Emergency Management shows evidence of a tornado southeast of Lake Cicott. Dozens, if not hundreds, of trees were damaged by the brief tornado along with instances of property damage. The tornado appears to have begun over a wooded area near the termination of S CR 750 W (South of W CR 50 S). Here, a few trees were uprooted followed by an area of trees snapped near the base. Based on a convergent signature, the tornado appears to have curved quickly to the northeast, taking a few roof panels off a nearby outbuilding. Now approaching the bend in the road of W CR 50 S, the tornado appears to have intensified sharply with intense destruction and uprooting of trees, resulting in a clear convergent pattern. Nearby buildings appear to have avoided significant damage. On yet another sharp jaunt to the north, now headed to a farmstead, the tornado continued to destroy trees but also destroyed two barns, removed portions of roof off three other outbuildings, and completely destroyed a grain bin. Debris was gathered at the base of a nearby tree line. Aloft, a few large branches appear to have been snapped. Beyond this, trees are untouched suggesting the tornado lifted.

Drone footage provided by Cass County Emergency Management confirmed an EF-1 tornado occurred within a line of severe thunderstorms across northeast Cass County. The tornado began just south of County Road 325 N between County Road 400 E and 450 E where the roof of a barn was damaged. The tornado then tracked northeast and produced noticeable scouring of crops. The tornado destroyed a 40ft pole barn on County Road 375 N and caused additional damage to the roofs of barns along County Road 500 E. The tornado dissipated by County Road 425 N where some minor tree damage was observed.

A brief tornado spun up south of 8A on King Rd, uprooting or|snapping multiple trees and causing damage to a barn. The tornado|continued northeast, flipping a center pivot before entering a|grove of trees causing several snapped trees. The circulation|moved quickly northeast, knocking down a few more trees north of|8A Rd. The tornado quickly lifted on the north side of 8A Rd|after doing significant damage to a barn.

A brief EF-0 tornado with maximum winds estimated at 75 mph|touched down on the far southwest side of Argos in Marshall|County. Damage along the path was largely confined to trees.|Special thanks to the Marshall County EMA and Argos FD for|assisting with the survey.

Another tornado, perhaps from the same parent circulation that|spawned the Argos tornado, developed on the northeast side of|Bourbon in Marshall County. The tornado touched down in a field,|with tree damage observed in the distance just east of Beech Road|and north of 10B Road. The tornado raced northeastward, striking|a property where two old barns collapsed and a third was damaged.|Metal roofing material was also blown off, and several trees|sustained major damage, consistent with an EF-1 rating. The|tornado then crossed the county line into Kosciusko County, where|it impacted multiple Amish properties. In this area, a camper was|flipped, several softwood trees were snapped, and maximum winds|were estimated at 90 to 100 mph.

A tornado touched down in the vicinity of W 400 S and S 300 W on the southwest edge of Wabash. At this location, a number of wood power poles were snapped at the base. The tornado then raced northeast to Glendale Dr., McKibben St., and Barkley Dr. in Wabash where a number of homes of damaged. Homes lost shingles or even portions of the roof decking. Debris was lofted into nearby tree lines. One dual-axle fifth-wheel camper was tipped over. Insulation and dirt splatter was noted at a few different homes. Beyond Berkley Dr., damage was limited to instances of small limbs down in the neighborhood. Farther northeast, in the vicinity of Lafountaine Ave and W Waterworks Rd., an outbuilding was destroyed when its south-facing door appeared to be blown, in resulting in a collapse of walls and loss of roof panels. The tornado reached its peak intensity as it moved over properties on W Water Works road. Here, two injuries were reported as homes lost windows and roof decking, and a manufactured home was shifted several feet off its foundation. Dirt and insulation splatter was noted in these areas. Beyond S Meridian Rd., damage was once again limited to instances of trees or branches down. Powerlines were down near E Baumbauer Rd, where the tornado appears to have lifted.

The tornado touched down in a field,|with tree damage observed in the distance just east of Beech Road|and north of 10B Road. A tornado developed southwest of Andrews, racing northeast toward Huntington. At least two properties on W Division Rd were impacted, as indicated by a loss of shingles, siding, and roof panels. Numerous trees were damaged as well, including trees snapped. Near the intersection of W 100 N and N 800 W, additional tree damage was observed and an outbuilding lost several roof panels. Along W 200 N, a number of trees were damaged at one property. Across the street, a mobile home lost its roof. The tornado appears to have lifted prior to reaching the Yake Subdivision, just south of the Wabash River. In the subdivision, isolated tree branches were down.

A tornado touched down north of Pleasant Plain, at a residence on S 500 W. Here, nearly two dozen trees were damaged, including multiple trees snapped at least halfway up their trunks. Tree damage appeared to continue into a tree line off to the northeast. Throughout its nearly 8-mile long path to the northeast, sporadic instances of tree damage occurred until it approached State Route 5, just northwest of I-69. Here, the tornado caused almost total destruction to a newly built barndominium. Only the eastern wall was left standing with debris lofted at least 100 yards into adjacent fields. Tree damage continued east-northeast of here where at least two tree trunks were snapped. The tornado lifted just east of I-69, along S 200 E.

A National Weather Service storm survey determined that an EF-2 |tornado occurred in association with a line of severe thunderstorms|across northern Elkhart County. Along the path, shingle damage to homes|was observed along with uprooted trees. Later in its track, the tornado|reached the Hyde Park Drive and Stanford Drive areas where additional |trees were uprooted. A residence on Hyde Park Drive sustained|a complete loss of a garage with accompanying significant resultant roof|damage. One injury was reported at this residence. Another|residence on Stanford Drive suffered a near complete loss of its roof.|The tornado then crossed a field as it approached the Pheasant Ridge|subdivision and resulted in several snapped trees along a tree line. |Several large tree branches and additional uprooted trees were noted in|the Pheasant Ridge subdivision on Folkstone Court. Some minor shingle|damage was also observed to a residence on Folkstone Court. The tornado|also resulted in large trees downed on County Road 19 to the immediate|east of Pheasant Ridge Drive. The end of the tornado patch appeared to be|just east of County Road 19 affecting the Baltimore Oriole Drive and |Songbird Way vicinity where some small branches were downed.

In an open area north of US 24 and east of State Route 9, an incredibly brief tornado appears to have touched down and impacted a single residence. Here, a two-story home completely lost its roof and debris was deposited into adjacent fields. Hardly any rafters remain and no roof decking is present. Intense dirt and insulation splatter was noted on the east and north side of the home. Additionally, a detached garage to the south-southeast of the home was demolished by the tornado. A property less then 500 yards to the northeast was not impacted, suggesting the tornado quickly lifted beyond 600 N.

The same storm that produced the EF-2 tornado in Bristol, IN|continued eastward into LaGrange County. While radar suggested|the correlation coefficient signature persisted between Bristol|and this tornado (albeit weaker), damage was very sparse, and|there was not enough confidence or evidence to definitively|connect the two areas of concern. Due to a 10-mile separation, it|was determined to treat these as two separate tornadoes.The|tornado in LaGrange paralleled SR 120, producing an impressive|swath of tree damage and causing visible damage to barns and|center pivots. Given the time elapsed between the storm and the|ground survey, it is likely some homes had already been repaired.|The circulation reached a maximum width of 0.75 miles on the|north side of Shipshewana, with a maximum intensity estimated to|be EF-1 at 100 mph. The tornado occluded on the western side of|Twin Lakes before a broader swath of straight-line wind damage|took over in the Howe, IN and Sturgis, MI areas.

Drone footage provided by Jay County Emergency Management confirmed a brief EF-0 tornado occurred within a line of severe thunderstorms across northwest Jay County. The tornado began just south of 550 N where a barn had the roof blown off. There was also some roof damage to a nearby house and several trees were snapped off. Debris was lofted well northeast into the nearby fields. Debris was observed all the way to State Road 1 where additional minor tree and roof damage was observed. The tornado dissipated shortly after crossing State Road 1.

A tornado embedded within a line of severe thunderstorms|developed Thursday night in extreme southeast LaGrange County.|Around Taylor Lake and Lake of the Woods, damage to electrical|poles, along with impressive tree damage in spots, was determined|to be consistent with an EF-1 rating, with maximum winds|estimated at 90 mph. The tornado then raced northeastward into|Steuben County. As the parent cell merged with another portion of|the line, the tornado took a more easterly turn, impacting|portions of western and northern Angola. Much of the damage along|the path was inflicted on trees, suggesting the tornado may have|occasionally lifted off the surface.

A shed was destroyed from a nearby trailer park.
