What happened

The episode as NWS GJT wrote it up.

A closed low off the Southern California coast pulled in some deep atmospheric river moisture ahead of a shortwave trough dropping southward across northwest Colorado. This led to moderate snow accumulations in the northern and central Colorado mountains with much less elsewhere. Warm temperatures also resulted in high snow levels with most accumulations above 9000 feet and rain or rain/snow mix in the valleys limiting accumulations.
