What happened

The episode as NWS CRP wrote it up.

Unseasonably warm and dry conditions continued across South Texas, with little to no meaningful rainfall observed. Drought conditions continued to worsen due to persistent lack of rainfall and dry air, with soil moisture rated critically low in the Coastal Bend and very short to short across South Texas. Range and pasture conditions remained moisture-stressed, with only limited green-up in some areas and generally poor to fair conditions, very low grass yields, and widespread vegetation stress. Some agricultural operations reported hauling water, and irrigation water was unavailable in area canals, further highlighting ongoing and intensifying drought impacts across the region.

.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 133 PM CST Sun Nov 30 2025

Rain chances will remain medium to high (40-80%) through Monday as a
coastal trough develops in the northwest Gulf and interacts with
isentropic lift across South Texas. Rain chances will quickly taper
off Tuesday as the coastal trough moves away from the region. Rain
chances will increase back to medium to high (40-70%) chances mid-
week as areas of positive vorticity advection move across South
Texas ahead of our next cold front later in the work week. Below
normal temperatures will continue through Tuesday with temperatures
returning to near normal values by mid-week. Although temperatures
will be below normal, overnight temperatures are expected to remain
above freezing (32 degrees F). However, chilly temperatures combined
with winds over 10 mph will lead to cold wind chill values (feels
like temperature) Monday morning ranging between 33-40 degrees
Monday morning and 31-40 degrees Tuesday morning.

.AVIATION...
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 534 PM CST Sun Nov 30 2025

MVFR ceilings blanket South Texas, with slightly higher VFR
ceilings around 3-4kft near the Rio Grande (LRD/COT). North to
northeasterly winds around 12 knots early this evening will
diminish overnight. Conditions will deteriorate overnight into the
morning hours Monday as ceilings drop, bringing IFR/LIFR over
Coastal sites (ALI/CRP/VCT) and a medium to high chance for
showers. Rain chances will diminish by the afternoon but can
expect MVFR vsby reductions with direct shower impacts. Ceilings
improve to VFR out west over COT/LRD by the afternoon. Winds will
remain light out of the north to northeast tomorrow.

&&

.MARINE...
Issued at 133 PM CST Sun Nov 30 2025

A fresh to strong breeze (BF 5-6) will continue through Tuesday
before weakening to a gentle breeze (BF 3) Tuesday night. Winds are
expected to strengthen back to a fresh breeze by late this week.
Medium to high (65-90%) rain chances will remain in the forecast
over the Gulf waters through Monday night before rain chances
quickly taper off Tuesday. Medium to high rain chance (60-90%) will
return mid- week and continue through the end of the work week.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 133 PM CST Sun Nov 30 2025

Minimum relative humidity will remain above 35% through this week
along with below normal temperatures Sunday through Tuesday
following a strong cold front early this morning. Medium to high
chances for showers are forecast through Monday. A brief lull in
rain chances is expected after a reinforcing surge of high pressure
pushes through late Monday night into Tuesday, but low to medium
rain chances return Wednesday through Friday as additional
disturbances arrive. There are no elevated fire weather concerns at
this time.
