.SYNOPSIS...A few light showers across portions of the region
tonight and tomorrow as a cold front moves thru Nevada, though
breezes will be the main weather impact. Otherwise weather
becomes fair and much warmer than average Tuesday night thru
Saturday with guidance indicating precipitaton returning in the
Saturday night to Sunday time frame.

&&

.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Tuesday Night

Light showers over the high terrain of White Pine County
dissipate thru this evening as upper energy that ejected from a
deep upper low offshore of the PacNW moves east and out of the
forecast region. Otherwise a deep and well occluded synoptic low
pressure system associated with the upper low resides along the
coast of Washington State this evening with a broad cold front
draped south thru NorCal. Southwesterly surface winds remain
elevated tonight as the cold front progresses thru Nevada tonight
and tomorrow morning with the strongest gusts of 20 to 30+ mph
situated across northern Nevada. Forcing will be modest along the
southern reaches of the front due to the weak nature of the front
itself and a dry frontal passage thru most of the forecast area is
expected. Better frontal forcing expected further north with a
few light snow showers expected late tonight early Tuesday morning
across northern Elko County, in and near the Jarbidge Wilderness
and Independence Range. No significant accumulation is expected.
Surface winds become northwesterly Tuesday morning post frontal
with gusts 20 to 30 mph across the forecast region during the day
as skies also clear from northwest to southeast. Fair weather
Tuesday night under mostly clear skies.

Overnight low temperatures tonight will be in the mid 20s to mid
30s. Daytime highs Tuesday will range from the low 40s across far
northern Nevada to the low 60s for portions of N. Nye County as
the cooler post frontal air mass mainly affects northern Nevada.
Overnight low temperatures Tuesday night will be in the mid teens
to mid 20s.

&&

.LONG TERM...Wednesday through next Monday

Warm and dry to finish the week as an upper ridge resides over the
western U.S. Daytime high temperatures will climb all the way to
the low 60s across the majority of the area by Friday and
Saturday. Models show the next system pushing into our area
starting Saturday, but there’s currently still some disagreement
meaning exact details are likely to change some. What is clear is
this system will noticeably drop our temperatures, with highs in
the 50s on Sunday and generally only reaching the 40s for Monday.
Winds will also increase, with afternoon sustained winds reaching
15-20 mph both days. This system also looks to bring widespread
precipitation chances, with mostly valley rain on Sunday
transitioning to snow overnight and back to rain during the day
Monday.

&&

.AVIATION...VFR conditions expected at all terminals through the
next 24 hours. Gusty winds anticipated at KWMC/KBAM/KEKO/KELY.
VCSH at KELY from 00Z to 09Z, and any showers directly overhead
could cause short lived decreased ceilings and visibilities.
