Tornadoes and Flash Flooding in Missouri, April 20 to 21, 2025

Heavy rainfall caused flooding of county roads.

Heavy Rainfall lead to multiple county roads flooding.

State highway AA was flooded and impassable near Buffalo Creek.

Several city roads were reported to have at least 10 inches of water covering roads.

Quarter sized hail was reported.

Several city streets in town were reported with high water flowing over them.

A large tree was down on a home causing minor damage.

A water rescue was performed on Farm Road 2200 east of Farm Road 1110. The occupants were rescued safely with no injuries.

State Highway CC at Elkhorn Creek was flooded and impassable.

State Highway V was closed at Weaubleau Creek with a foot or more of water. A water rescue was performed successfully with no injuries reported.

Several areas of flooding occurred along Highway 413 between Highway 173 and State Route AA.

County Road 2175 at a tributary of Honey Creek was flooded and impassable in several locations.

State Highway Y at Flat Creek was flooded and impassable.

A low water crossing on Southeast 1200 Road and nearby 541 Road was flooded by Brushy Creek.

State Highway AA at the Spring Creek was flooded and impassable in town.

State Highway CC at Spring Creek was flooded and impassable.

The west bound lane of Delaware Road was flooded by the James River as it flowed out of its banks.

Highway Y was flooded at low water crossings on both Kilburn and McKinney Branches.

An EF-1 tornado that touched down 3 miles southwest of Galena tracked into Missouri at the intersection of SE Turkey Creek Road and North State Line Avenue. The tornado continued northeast through Carl Junction before lifting near the intersection of County Road 320 and H Highway in northern Jasper County. Multiple witnesses reported the tornado to be rain-wrapped as it impacted dozens of trees, with damage ranging from large limbs down to others being uprooted. Wind speeds associated with the uprooted trees were reduced as damages to nearby structures were largely limited to shingles and siding, and very wet grounds being a contributing factor.

The roof of a home on County Lane 265 and Highway 96 suffered minor damage.

Multiple trees, poles and powerlines were reported down, some snapped at the base.

A public weather station recorded a 68 mph wind gust.

An EF-0 tornado touched down in south-central Barton County in Missouri at 2:29 PM on April 20, 2025, tracking northeast through the city of Lamar before finally lifting northeast of Milford at 2:50 PM. The majority of damage from this tornado was in the city of Lamar, where it caused light to moderate damage to around 200 homes and businesses. Eyewitness accounts report a rain-wrapped tornado, and much of the debris field left behind consisted of light debris like leaf litter pressed to multiple sides of impacted structures by the rain. Straight line wind damage was also found to the east of the path in Lamar.

The Mesonet station FW9620 at Pumpkin Center measured a 58 mph wind gust.

A short-lived EF0 tornado downed large limbs and caused minor shingle and siding damage to a home before the path was no longer visible into a forested area.

A public weather station measured a 70 mph wind gust.

A National Weather Service survey found that an EF-0 A tornado touched down south of Mill Creek in Morgan County, Missouri at 4:30 PM on April 20, 2025. This tornado removed multiple turkey/chicken barn roof panels, in addition to breaking several large tree limbs. The tornado lifted at 4:32 PM.

An EF0 tornado damaged trees, including some being uprooted in a cyclonic pattern along an intermittent path between Highway O and Highway 14. A few homes and cars were damaged by falling limbs.

A National Weather Service Survey determined that an EF0 tornado developed at 4:46PM April 20, 2025 northwest of High Prairie, MO and tracked to the northeast for a little over one mile lifting at 4:48pm. Peak winds were 80mph with a max width of 30 yards. Several barns were damaged along with several trees and limbs downed along the path.

A large oak tree was uprooted and several other trees were snapped about half way up.

A National Weather Service survey indicated that at 4:59 PM on April 20, 2025, an EF-0 tornado touched down just west of Highway 5 in Wright County, about 5 miles south of Hartville. The tornado traveled northeast and crossed the highway before lifting at Wolf Creek at 5:01 PM. This tornado damaged numerous trees and uprooted a few others. One of the tree limbs fell on a house, which caused significant roof damage.

An NWS storm survey and public drone video determined an EF-1 with 80-90 mph winds uprooted numerous trees starting near the intersection of Highway 38 and Highway E to the east of Hartville...then intermittently across fields south of Highway 38 and before crossing the Highway to the north of Latham Mill and then into the Dove Creek basin. It is unknown whether the path continued further into a wooded area west of Rayborn. Trees showed a convergent fall pattern as the tornado crossed the highway and through creek. Maximum winds were 90 mph and the width was 400 yards with 80-90 mph winds uprooted numerous trees starting near the intersection of Highway 38 and Highway E to the east of Hartville...then intermittently across fields south of Highway 38 and before crossing the Highway to the north of Latham Mill and then|into the Dove Creek basin. It is unknown whether the path continued further into a wooded area west of Rayborn. Trees showed a convergent fall pattern as the tornado crossed the highway and through the creek basin. Maximum winds were 90 mph and the width was 400 yards.

A National Weather Service storm survey determined that an EF-0 tornado briefly touched down near County Rd 396 in northwest Shannon County and traveled northeast, crossing County Rd K-385 before lifting shortly thereafter. Additionally, hundreds of trees and limbs were uprooted, downed and snapped in a Conservation Area. The tornado path was determined by a combination of on-site survey and satellite analysis.

Several low water crossings including County Roads 5320 and 4910 were under water and impassable.

Hen egg sized hail was reported in a mainly rural portion northeast of Alton, Mo.

Route CC at a low water area and County Road 7060 were closed due to high water.

A large 8 to 10 inch diameter limb fell on a vehicle.

A swift water rescue was performs when a small pickup truck was swept of the road by fast flowing water. Two people were rescued safely with no injuries.
