A low-pressure system tracked across Lower Michigan from late December 9th through the morning of December 10th. Snowfall totals ranged from 1 3 inches south of M-59, while areas along and north of M-59 saw 3 6 inches, with isolated reports of 7 inches. Because temperatures hovered near freezing, the snow was heavy and wet with high liquid content; meanwhile, southern portions of the forecast area transitioned to rain as temperatures rose within the system's warm sector.
Some of the highest snowfall reports included 7.1 inches northwest of Saginaw (Saginaw County) and 7.0 inches in Sebewaing (Huron County). Precipitation tapered off in the afternoon as a cold front crossed Southeast Michigan, leading to a sharp temperature drop into the teens overnight.
