What happened

The episode as NWS SHV wrote it up.

Despite several rounds of wetting rainfall that fell across much of North Louisiana during the first couple weeks of December, a prolonged period of much above normal temperatures and dry conditions were observed areawide for the latter half of the month, with multiple days of near to record high temperatures observed across many locations between December 20th-28th. This only exasperated the ongoing drought across Sabine, Natchitoches, and Winn Parishes, where multiple wildfires ignited, and much below normal streamflow on area creeks and bayous were observed. Ag producers continued to report poor pasture conditions and very low to dry stock pond levels, which carried over into January 2026.
