Cold front is beginning to move into far NW Oklahoma. Ahead of the
front a few showers have developed in parts of western OK.
Isolated/scattered showers and maybe a few rumbles of thunder will
remain possible ahead of the front in western and southeastern parts
of the fa the rest of this afternoon into early evening. The better
chance for scattered showers and storms will be near the front as it
moves across portions of the area this evening into early Friday.
Water vapor shows a shortwave currently moving across CO. Models
show this feature continuing to move SE into the central/southern
Plains tonight into Friday although weakening a bit. The shortwave
could provide some additional lift for shower/storm development
tonight. Severe storms are unlikely.
The front is expected to continue to move across the area Friday.
The frontal position is expected to be in or just south of southern
parts of the fa Friday afternoon. With the front still in/near the
area, sfc heating, and the remnants of the shortwave likely still in
the region, there is a low chance for a few showers/storms to
develop in SE parts of the fa Friday afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to fall into the 60s across most of the fa
tonight. Around to slightly below average temperatures are expected
again Friday with highs in the 80s to around 90.

After Friday the forecast remains dry through the middle of next
week. Models show drier air filtering in the region behind the
previously mentioned front over the weekend with dewpoints in the
50s and maybe some 40s. Despite some disturbances moving through the
NW flow aloft potentially affecting the region this weekend, the
drier air should keep any chances for rain very low.
The lower dewpoints should allow cooler temperatures at night over
the weekend with lows in the 50s. Afternoon highs will continue to
be in the 80s to around 90. Next week models show a little bit of
warming with afternoon highs around to slightly above average in
many locations.
