KEY MESSAGES: - Generally, well below freezing temperatures will continue through Monday. - Flurries for the rest of today will give way to a quick hitting band of snow showers overnight. - A period of warming to near normal temps and dry conditions is expected from west to east Sunday night through Tuesday night. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: For tonight, a weak disturbance is expected to help a band of snow showers develop after 9 PM, and there is moderate (50 percent) confidence on snow accumulating less than one inch by 6 AM Sunday before ending late in the morning. Arctic temperatures on the northeast side of a surface stationary front running through south central Montana will continue for northeast Montana through Monday night. The GFS and ECMWF ensemble models have attempted to push the arctic air eastward on Monday night, so there is moderate (50 percent) confidence on reaching near normal temperatures area-wide on Tuesday. Northwest flow will remain the dominant pattern from Wednesday onward, with low confidence on placement and timing of snow showers and accumulation at the beginning of next weekend.
