.DISCUSSION...
The setup aloft this afternoon over the region features troughing
extending south from a closed low over New England with ridging to
the west and east of the state. At the surface, the Atlantic ridge
extends over southern Florida, keeping a light easterly wind in
place. Some scattered showers and thunderstorms have formed along
the west coast sea breeze and this boundary will slowly shift
eastward, meeting with the east coast boundary later this afternoon.
This will give us another round of storms over the interior which
will then shift back westward later in the evening before pushing
offshore.
Troughing aloft generally weakens and lifts out over the next few
days, with the surface ridge then drifting northward a bit. This will
turn our low-level winds more south to southeast, but the end result
is still scattered to numerous storms consolidating over the
interior where the sea breezes collide.
Conditions this weekend into early next are still uncertain with the
potential development of the disturbance in the Atlantic. NHC has
the system marked with a 60% chance of development over the next 7
days. Conditions into next week are dependent on the course of
this potential system. We will continue to monitor for future
developments.

VFR conditions prevail outside of thunderstorms. A few initial
storms will be possible along the west coast sea breeze, then
additional storms will form inland and shift back westward through
the evening. A quiet overnight period is expected.

Light winds today become more southeast to south starting tomorrow,
with a turn onshore each afternoon. No headlines are expected. The
best rain chances will be later in evening into the overnight hours.
