.AVIATION...
Clouds along the coast will continue to erode with VFR conditions
area-wide prevailing through this afternoon. VFR conditions are
expected through the TAF period for COT and LRD. For the eastern
TAF sites, clouds and light patchy fog are expected to spread
across the area beginning this evening with conditions lowering to
MVFR levels after 04Z. Brief IFR conditions due to CIGs will be
possible generally after 08Z. Have included TEMPO groups for ALI,
CRP and VCT to account for these brief IFR conditions toward early
Sunday morning. VFR conditions for the eastern TAF sites expected
by mid to late Sunday morning. Surface winds will be S to SE with
gusts between 20-25 knots across the eastern areas this afternoon,
then diminishing this evening. There is the potential for LLWS
across COT overnight around 09Z with a south LLJ around 2kft
increasing to near 40 knots. Not all models are this strong with
the LLJ, therefore have not included it in the COT TAF at this
time.

Satellite shows low stratus with generally low MVFR ceilings
over the coastal plains and eastern Brush Country with another
area of low clouds moving up the Rio Grande into LRD area.
IFR ceilings will be possible over these areas until 14Z. Winds
have stayed up a little this morning and fog has not been an
issue. Ceilings will lift to higher MVFR between 14Z-16Z with
clouds scattering out after 16Z. VFR conditions will occur across
the area through the rest of the day into the evening hours.
Southeast winds will become gusty over the Coastal Bend in the
afternoon. Low level flow will strengthen to 30-35 knots tonight.
Low clouds/MVFR ceilings will develop along the coast around 06Z
and move inland, reaching LRD area by 10Z Sunday. Wind speeds will
remain elevated tonight, so do not expect fog to be a problem.

SHORT TERM (Today through Sunday)...
Clouds along with patchy fog over the inland coastal plains at
this time will give way to mostly sunny skies by late morning.
An upper level ridge will move into south Texas today and then
move east into the western Gulf of Mexico on Sunday.
Very hot temperatures are in store for the weekend. Highs will
reach the triple digits today from Beeville to Kingsville westward
with maximum readings of 107 degrees expected in the western Brush
Country. Along with the heat, the humidity will push heat index
values into advisory levels from the inland Coastal Bend to the
Brush Country with values from 110-112 degrees are expected. The
Heat Advisory is in effect from 18Z today until 00Z Sunday.
Thermal gradient will lead to breezy conditions over the southern
Coastal Bend this afternoon. An area of low pressure will develop
over the Texas Panhandle to western Kansas tonight ahead of an
upper trough over the northern and central Rockies. This will keep
the winds up over the region tonight along with bringing in low
clouds overnight as low level southerly flow increases to 30-35
knots. Went above NBM for lows tonight.
Morning clouds will decrease again by Sunday afternoon with breezy
to windy conditions expected across south Texas. Highs Sunday will
be a degree or two lower than today but with additional humidity,
heat index values will likely be at advisory criteria for the
inland Coastal Bend to the Brush Country again.
LONG TERM (Sunday Night through Friday)...
No significant changes in the long term. Ridging will dominate
through the period with no lifting mechanisms strong enough to break
the huge cap. Therefore, hot and dry conditions will continue.
Ridging does weaken by Tuesday onward and will lead to temperatures
to decrease slightly but still remain above normal. A trough finally
proceeds eastward into the Great Plains heading into next weekend.
Heat indices on Monday will be the greatest concern, ranging from
110 to 115 west of HWY-281, resulting in a Heat Advisory, and 100 to
109 east. Highs on Monday will near 90 along the coast and range
from 100 to 105 out west. An SPS for heat indices will then be
needed on Tuesday but temperatures will be on a slight decline with
highs ranging from 90 to 100 heading into the weekend. Breezy to
windy conditions will persist in the afternoons. Relative humidity
is expected to decrease below 30% across portions of the Brush
Country and Rio Grande Plains in the afternoons from Thursday to
Saturday, this may lead to a few hours of elevated fire weather
conditions.
MARINE...
A weak to moderate onshore flow this morning will increase to
moderate levels this afternoon and continue through Sunday. The
onshore flow could become moderate to strong over the southern
bays Sunday afternoon.
Onshore flow will become moderate to occasionally strong Sunday
night and continue through the work week. Winds are expected to be
strongest at night where Small Craft Advisory conditions will be
more likely. Otherwise, expect Small Craft Exercise Caution
conditions through the week.
