.AVIATION [06Z TAF Issuance]...
MVFR ceilings will settle in during the overnight hours starting
at 08-09Z and will gradually lift and scatter out around sunrise
tomorrow. Isolated showers will begin south of I-10 from 09-12Z
and will push further inland throughout the day as far north as
IAH. These showers will steadily increase in coverage throughout
the day. With daytime heating some of these showers could grow
into a few thunderstorms. Best moisture axis appears to set up
east of I-45 in the afternoon, so lumped KCLL in with the VCSH and
VCTS as well. This activity will begin to subside again by sunset
With increasing low level moisture tomorrow night, models are
hinting at the possibility for patchy fog, especially for our
rural and low lying areas.

.SHORT TERM [Through Wednesday Night]...
Showers increasing over the Gulf waters this afternoon with a few
spotty showers inland. SE winds will continue overnight with warm
conditions prevailing. The deeper moisture that has been marching
across the Gulf should spread into the region overnight and will
probably see some showers spread into the southwestern 1/3rd of
the region tonight especially after midnight but still a few this
evening. The environment looks conducive to scattered showers
Wednesday morning with speed convergence/1.6"+ PW/skinny
CAPE/decreased CIN profiles and that will likely continue into
the afternoon with TSRA threat increasing with daytime heating and
increasing DCAPE so have added gusty winds with storms to much of
the area. Temperatures tomorrow are a bit of a crap shoot with
showers/thunderstorms dotting the area and moving northwest and
high clouds blowing back to the southeast so can't rule out some
spotty mid 90s far west to upper 80s (read that as bustable).
Wednesday evening storms should be mainly focused outside of the
Houston Metro as they expand away with the seabreeze probably up
closer to Columbus/Brenham/Huntsville. Loss of heating should
plummet the available energy to maintain storms. Toward morning
Thursday will probably see an increase in coverage of showers near
the coast.

.Long Term[Wednesday through Tuesday]...
The upper level ridge will flatten out on Thursday as a weak
backdoor cold front (or whats left of it) pushes into SE Texas. This
weak front should enter SE Texas Thursday morning, bringing showers
and thunderstorms across portions of the region as it sags down
towards the coast. These storms will be relatively unimpressive,
though may bring strong gusty winds with mid to upper level
ridging working to suppress overall storm development. Variable
winds will develop as this boundary moves through the region, with
offshore flow briefly developing on Thursday and into portions of
Friday.
Rain chances should taper off Friday evening as the boundary lifts
north and onshore flow resumes. Showers could develop on Saturday as
a jet streak and midlevel shortwave passes overhead, though with a
surface high over the western gulf, models keep our area dry for
most of the weekend. Mid to upper level ridging will build over our
area on Sunday, ushering in a warming trend into next week. Breezy
conditions will develop Sunday evening as the pressure gradient
tightens ahead of another surface low over the Rockies. By Tuesday
highs should reach the mid to upper 90s throughout the region.
03
.Marine...
Light streamer showers over the gulf this afternoon will slowly
taper off into the evening. Moderate onshore flow and elevated seas
will increase this evening and flirt with advisory levels overnight.
Winds and seas will diminish on Wednesday as the pressure gradient
weakens ahead of a weak cold front. Rip current risk should decrease
on Thursday as winds and seas continue to diminish. The weak cold
front should sag towards the coast Friday morning, briefly bringing
offshore flow and a few scattered thunderstorms. Onshore flow will
quickly return by Friday afternoon as high pressure settles in over
the western Gulf.
