.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Sunday night...Warm front has
already changed snow to rain below 5000 feet MSL, and the snow
level will continue to rise tonight to 6000 feet north to 7500
feet south. Higher elevations will continue to accumulate heavy
snow while lower elevations, especially north of the Snake Basin,
will receive moderate to heavy amounts of rain as the atmospheric
river from across the north Pacific sags southward through our
CWA. Total liquid equivalent tonight through Saturday evening will
be 1.50 to 2.50 inch in the Boise Mountains, with generally 1.00
to 2.00 inch elsewhere north of the Snake Basin, .40 to .80 inch
in the Snake Basin southward, and .10 to .50 inch in most of
eastern Oregon. 10 to 20 inches more snow will fall in the higher
mountains of Boise, Elmore, and Valley Counties. The Wind Advisory
for tonight in the West Central Idaho Mountains has been lowered,
but gusts 30 to 40 mph will cause widespread blowing and drifting
snow above 6500 feet through Saturday. Other Wind Advisories in
southern areas will continue as before. We have added the Camas
Prairie to the Wind Advisory for Saturday. Our CWA is currently in
the warm sector behind the warm front and temperatures will be
steady or slowly rising through the night. High temps Saturday
will be in the 40s to lower 50s before a cold front comes in from
the north. The cold front will be right behind the southward-
shifting atmospheric river. Winds will die down Saturday evening
and rain and snow will decrease from north to south. Sunday looks
dry but breezy. The next cold upper trough will dig southward
from the Gulf of Alaska and western Canada Sunday night, with
snow showers increasing in our CWA as it comes closer.
.LONG TERM...Monday through Friday...A cold front will move through
early Monday morning, lowering snow levels to the surface at all
locations. Snow showers will generally continue over the higher
terrain on Monday and Tuesday before tapering off as the majority
of the energy associated with this system remains to the south and
east of the area. Dry conditions expected Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday. Temperatures will be around 5 degrees below normal on
Monday, lowering to around 10 degrees below normal on Wednesday
and Thursday.

.AVIATION...Generally MVFR-IFR in rain and snow. Mountains obscured.
Snow levels 4500-5500ft lifting to 5500-7500ft MSL by this evening
as a warm front moves through. Ceilings will generally rise as the
snow levels rise. Surface winds: SE-SW 10-20kt, except 15-25kt along
the Nevada border region. Winds aloft at 10kft MSL: NW 50-75kt
easing to NW 35-45kt by 00z/Sunday. Low level wind shear expected
through Saturday morning.
Weekend Outlook...Rain and snow showers expected Saturday morning,
tapering off Saturday afternoon. Mountains obscured, then
clearing Saturday afternoon. Patchy fog Saturday night into
Sunday morning. Breezy northwest winds on Saturday and southwest-
southeast winds on Sunday. Snow levels ranging from 4-7kft MSL.
Rain and snow showers increase on Sunday afternoon with mountain
obscuration.
