A ridge of high pressure in the middle and upper atmosphere restrengthened over the southern United States during late July. Unseasonably hot afternoon temperatures reaching 100 to 110 degrees, combined with high humidity, resulted in heat index values in the 110 to 115 degree range across much of eastern Oklahoma on the 24th through 28th.

A ridge of high pressure in the middle and upper atmosphere restrengthened over the southern United States during late July. Unseasonably hot afternoon temperatures reaching 100 to 110 degrees, combined with high humidity, resulted in heat index values in the 110 to 115 degree range across much of eastern Oklahoma on the 24th through 28th. There were at least twenty heat-related medical calls in the City of Tulsa during this period.
