These storms propagated into the southern and western Piedmont of central North Carolina by mid-afternoon, while additional storms developed into the central Piedmont and Coastal Plain and moved north toward Virginia during the evening hours. Many of the storms produced small hail and damaging winds, while a few storms produced one inch hail.
