.SHORT TERM (Rest of Today through Monday)...
Messy start to the short term period as CAMs suggest the bullseye of
moisture and convection will be across eastern Broward and Dade
counties this afternoon/evening as showers and storms move from NW
to SE with the frontal boundary. Generally, coverage should be more
scattered, though would not be surprised to see a brief bout of
numerous coverage across the east coast. Thus, introduced 60-70
percent PoPs. SPC continues to place eastern South FL in a MRGL risk
(level 2 of 5) of severe storms during this time frame. Despite weak
low-level SRH and large-scale ascent, ample boundary layer heating
and forced low-level convergence between sea breezes and the front
should aid in scattered to numerous convection this afternoon into
the early evening hours, with the predominant storm mode as
multicell clusters. Main hazards will be locally strong to severe
wind gusts (expecting DCAPE values to exceed 1000 J/kg), hail up to
1 inch, and lightning. Moreso, WPC continues the MRGL risk for
excessive rainfall today, with localized flooding a concern across
the east coast during this same time frame. After sunset, activity
should begin to wane, though another last hurrah could happen over
the Gulf Stream waters before finally pushing away from the region.
By Monday, drier air briefly advects into the region as high
pressure builds across the SE CONUS and pushes into the western
Atlantic over the course of the day. Weak ridging aloft across FL
will also transition mid-upper level flow into a zonal pattern.
Breezy day is in store due to a tightened pressure gradient between
the aforementioned high pressure and dissipating frontal boundary to
the south, with wind gusts in the 25-30 mph range along eastern
portions of South FL. Overall, Monday should be a pleasant, breezy,
mostly dry day.
Overnight temperatures in the mid-upper 50s across the Lake Region,
low-mid 60s across inland/western sections, and mid-upper 60s along
the east coast. Monday afternoon high temperatures are a bit funky --
due to lingering clouds across the east coast along with onshore
flow, high temperatures across the east coast are forecast to be in
the upper-70s to near 80 whereas western areas will see mid-upper
80s due to clearing skies/plenty of sun and the offshore flow.
.LONG TERM (Monday Night through Sunday)...
A ridge of high pressure will continue to dominate the weather
pattern through Tuesday as it pushes eastward into the Atlantic.
There will be just enough lower level moisture in place to
support a slight chance of a shower or two along the east to
southeasterly breeze. Temperatures on Tuesday will continue to
moderate as the winds shift more to the southeast. High
temperatures will range from around 80 across the east coast metro
areas to the upper 80s across the interior and west.
Towards the middle and the end of the week, a deep mid level
trough will slowly move into the eastern portion of the country
from the Plains. At the surface, a rather strong area of low
pressure over the mid west will push northeastward into the Great
Lakes Region. A strong cold front associated with this system will
push through the southeastern portion of the country and into the
Florida Peninsula during this time frame. Out ahead of this
frontal boundary, the chances of showers and thunderstorms will
increase later on Wednesday and remain in place throughout the
day on Thursday and into Friday as the front slowly passes
through the area. Model guidance still shows some differences in
how fast this front moves through along with the intensity of the
front as it pushes through. While at this point in time, it looks
like the best dynamics and instability will remain off to the
north, uncertainty remains high during this time frame. As the
exact details still need to be worked out, there still remains the
potential for some strong thunderstorm development on Wednesday
night into Thursday out ahead of the front. This will continue to
be monitored as the week progresses.

.AVIATION(18Z TAFS)...
Cold front approaching region today. VCTS across east coast as front
nears, becoming more widespread around 20-01Z across all east coast
sites (except KPBI) where TEMPOs for prevailing TSRA and MVFR
CIGs/VIS have been introduced. Lingering VCTS through about 02-03Z,
with gradual clearing from north to south. Short-fused AMDs may be
necessary during this time frame for heavier SHRA/TS where IFR
CIGs/VIS or less are possible. Moderate NE winds this afternoon
maintaining magnitude overnight, with gusty winds possible in/near
TS. Breeze ENE/E winds beginning around 14-15Z Monday, with gusts as
high as 25kt possible.

.MARINE...
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible across the
local waters later today as a weak cold front pushes through the
region. Some storms may be strong to severe. As this front stalls
out to the south, a breezy easterly to northeasterly flow will
develop over the Atlantic and Gulf waters late this evening into
early-mid next week as high pressure builds back into the region.
This will result in hazardous marine conditions with a Small Craft
advisory in effect this evening for all South Florida waters. Late
this upcoming week into the weekend, another cold front is progged
to approach South FL which may cause another round of hazardous
marine/boating conditions.

.BEACHES...
A high risk of rip currents across all South FL Atlantic beaches
today due to increasing northeasterly winds, with the Gulf Coast
beaches seeing a moderate risk of rip currents due to increasing
(yet brief) northwesterly winds behind a cold front. Winds will
continue to gradually increase later today, keeping an elevated rip
current potential across the Atlantic beaches through early next
week.
