Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Mobile AL 1248 PM CDT Wed Mar 16 2022 .NEAR TERM /Now Through Thursday/...The upper level low centered over AL this morning will continue to progress eastward into Georgia by early this evening. Isolated to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms that had been occurring over the far eastern portions of the forecast earlier today are generally moving on off to the east of our forecast area this afternoon. There were a few strong storms up around Crenshaw county, but the threat of strong to briefly severe storms is ending up that way. For tonight, rain chances should come to an end by early this evening as the upper low moves on off to our east. While rains end tonight, conditions will be favorable for additional patchy fog development again late tonight into early Thursday morning. In some locations this fog could be dense, so we will have to monitor for the possibility of a Dense Fog Advisory for portions of our area overnight. Dry conditions are expected on Thursday as weak shortwave ridging aloft builds overhead, but this will be brief as yet another strong system begins to organize over the Plains states and will be moving toward our area Thursday night into Friday (more on that below). Temperatures today are in the low to mid 60s for most areas (a few lower 70s down along the coast), and expect high temperatures on Thursday to be a little warmer, topping out in the mid 70s over most inland locations and the lower 70s along the coast.
