This flow regime kept the Atlantic sea breeze pinned to the coastline with the sea breeze merger happening east of I-95. Warm mid level temperatures and high moisture content with PWATs over 2 inches led to efficient rainfall rates in storms and locally heavy rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches. A lack of shear, typical for this time of year, and poor lapse rates limited wind gusts associated with wet downbursts to stay around 40 mph or less. Frequent lightning also accompanied the strongest storms.
